Best for
Reading Challenge Bingo is a practical choice for groups, celebrations, classrooms, and hosts looking for a ready-to-customize activity.
What’s in this template
Reading Challenge Bingo starts with 55 editable callouts, including “Read a translated book”, “Read a book set abroad”, “Read a book with a map”, “Book from this decade”, “Read a play”, and “First book in a series”. Use these as a ready-made source list, then swap in details that fit your group.
How to use it
To play, read each paired callout, then let players mark the matching answer. Start with the provided callouts, add details that fit the group, and choose a clear win condition before the game begins.
Reading Challenge Bingo turns reading challenge into a flexible game for a group, classroom, party, watch-along, or independent activity. Its 55 editable callouts include Read a mystery, Read a fantasy, Read a memoir, Read a poetry collection, and Read a graphic novel. Because the bank contains more entries than one 5×5 card can display, generated cards can differ while staying focused on the same topic.
Shuffle the callout bank before the round and read one item at a time. Players mark the matching square, and the host can pause when a callout needs context or a quick explanation. Decide before starting whether one line, four corners, an X, or a blackout wins. A line keeps the activity moving; a blackout works better when the event itself is long enough to support it. The center FREE square is added automatically and is not part of the source bank.
The source notes add this guidance: Play: Mark activities after completing them during the agreed period. Review the wording for your audience, replace any entry that does not fit the setting, and then generate the number of randomized cards you need. Saving the edited source list also makes it easy to reuse the template with a different group without rebuilding it from scratch.
